(SATSports) – Manchester City record goal scorer Sergio Aguero will leave the club at the end of the current season after ten years with the English side.

Aguero made the announcement via social media, noting that he will continue to contribute to the Cityzens quest for more success this season.

“When a cycle comes to an end, many sensations arise,” the 32-year-old wrote.

“Ten seasons with major achievements, throughout which I was able to become the top historic goal scorer and forging and indestructible bond with all those who love this club – people who will always be in my heart.”

The Argentine, who joined Manchester City in July 2011, has scored 257 goals in 384 appearances for the club.

He is the fourth-highest goal scorer in the history of the English Premier League after Allan Shearer, Wayne Rooney and Andy Cole.

Manchester City announced the club would honor him with a statue at the Etihad Stadium, alongside former captain Vincent Kompany and midfielder David Silva, who left the club in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Aguero has found playing-time hard to come by this season, having struggled with injuries for months.

He however hopes to find his form and be part of City’s teams as the season moves along.
