(SATSports) – Coco Gauff, made grand slam history on Monday as she became the youngest woman to reach a grand slam quarter final in 15 years with a 6-3 6-1 victory over Ons Jabeur.
The 17 year old American, played near perfect tennis as she cruised her way past the 25th seed Tunisian to make her first last eight appearance in grand slam tennis, winning 81 percent of her first serves to zero double faults in the match to break a 2006 record of Nicole Vaidisova. Gauff said she felt like this was the best she had played at this level after the match.
Gauff, also broke a long standing American record, as the youngest American woman to make the slam quarter finals since her idol, Venus Williams in 1997.
Next up for her is Barbora Krejčikova, who needed just 70 minutes to beat Sloane Stephens 6-2 6-0 in her fourth round match to also make her first major quarterfinal.
