TRIPOLI, (The Southern African Times) – Libya’s telecommunications company Hatif on Monday signed an agreement with the U.S. company Infinera to improve telecommunications fiber optic network in Libya, according to a statement issued by the information office of the Libyan Government.

The agreement was signed during a ceremony attended by Libyan Prime Minister Abdul-Hamed Dbeibah, the minister of telecommunications of Libya, and the U.S. ambassador to Libya, the statement said.
“The Prime Minister considered the signing of this agreement an important step in advancing the economic relations between Libya and the United States,” the statement added.
“It’s an example of how improving stability and continued political progress can lead to jobs and economic benefits for the Libyan people,” said U.S. Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland.
