MSE TRADING SUMMARY FOR FRIDAY, JANUARY 17, 2020: At the end of the last weekday of trading on the Malawi Stock Exchange (MSE), a total of 145,824 shares, corresponding to a market value of MWK 22,062,085.00, were traded. Compared with the previous MSE trading day (Thursday, January 16), today’s data shows 85% decline in volume and 81% decline in turnover. The current MSE market capitalization is MWK 1.39 trillion.

In the aggregate, three MSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with only one gainer, namely NBS Bank, with 7.07% share price appreciation and also one loser, namely Malawi Property Investment Company (-0.15%). NBS Bank recorded the highest volume of 111,539 traded shares, followed by Malawi Property Investment Company (20,000) and Press Corporation (14,285).

Regarding the performance of MSE market indices, the benchmark Malawi All Share Index (MASI) inched up 60.68 (0.21%) points to close at 29,500.15, representing a 1-week loss of 2.58%, a 4-week loss of 0.12%, and an overall year-to-date loss of 2.49%. Other remarkable indices that performed were the Malawi Domestic Share Index (+0.24%; -2.99% 1WK; -2.88% YTD), and Malawi Foreign Share Index (+0%).
