(SATSports) – The Phoenix Suns played a remarkable second half to beat the Denver Nuggets 122-105 and take a 1-0 lead in their Western Conference semifinal game series.

It was a tightly contested first half which was separated by just 1 point in favor of the Nuggets. The Nuggets blew out 7 point leads in both the first and second quarters as the Suns just kept fight in front of a packed Talking Stick Resort Arena to trail 58-57 at the half.

The Denver Nuggets had a 9-1 run to start the third quarter but Mikal Bridges came up with big defensive and offensive plays to keep the Suns afloat, backed with two big 3s by Crowder and Booker. Denver couldn’t keep the ball, turned It over and a 16-0 points run by Phoenix to take the third quarter 31-21, which sent the crowd in a frenzy of roars cheering for their home team.

The struggles continued for the Nuggets in the fourth quarter, as their most offensive player and possibly the 2020/21 NBA MVP, Nikola Jokic missed six straight shots, however he had 22 points and 9 rebounds but it wasn’t enough to seal a victory against the sharp shooting Suns.

Devin Booker who had an outstanding series against the Lakers didn’t have the best of nights, with just 21 points and 8 assists, however Chris Paul exploded to a 6 for 6 fourth quarter shooting and a big overall performance with 21 points, 11 assists and 6 rebounds on 8 of 14 field goal shooting.

The Suns had 4 players with 20 plus points to win their fourth straight game and a take a 1-0 lead in the best of 7 game series.
