DOHA (The Southern African Times) – As voted for by airline customers around the world, Skytrax has announced the  World’s Top 100 Airlines for 2021. No stranger to international awards, the list sees Qatar Airways again coming in first, with Singapore Airlines coming in 2nd and ANA All Nippon Airways in 3rd position.

Qatar Airways is known not only for exceptional service levels but also for doing its bit for the wildlife and conservation through assisting in repatriating rescued wildlife to natural habitats. The airline’s flights also became more convenient this year, as it was able to reduce its flight times on many routes.

Earlier this year Qatar reached an agreement with its neighbours, thus ending a three-year flight ban on Qatar Airways. The airline could once again operate its flights over neighbouring territories, which had banned Qatar Airways from flying over their territories due to a lengthy diplomatic row.

SKYTRAX AIRLINE AWARDS

UK-based airline rating survey Skytrax has released the highly-anticipated 2021 World Airline Awards which are considered the “Oscars” for the airline sector.

The awards were based on customer surveys collected over 23 months, from September 2019 to July 2021, and comprise a mix of responses from more normal travel times as well as pandemic travel.

STACKING UP THE AWARDS

Skytrax’s World Airline Awards 2021, names Qatar Airways as the number one airline for the sixth time. The airline maintained its number one ranking for the second year in a row and for the sixth time since 2001, followed by Singapore Airlines in second and Japan’s ANA All Nippon Airways in third place.

Qatar Airways also secured five other awards, including Best Business Class, Best Business Class Seat, Best Airline in the Middle East, World’s Best Business Class Airline Lounge, and Best Business Class Onboard Catering.

STANDING BY SOUTH AFRICA

Qatar Airways has stood by South Africa throughout the pandemic. The airline could be relied upon by passengers needing to travel to and from South Africa during difficult times when many airlines suspended flights to South Africa or dropped South Africa off their route networks.

Qatar Airways has resumed its pre-pandemic flight schedule to South Africa. The airline offers flights from Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town to destinations across its global network via its award-winning hub in Doha.

WORLD’S TOP 10 AIRLINES

The world’s top international airlines according to the Skytrax Airline ratings are as follows :

1 QATAR AIRWAYS

2 SINGAPORE AIRLINES

3 ANA ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS

4 EMIRATES AIRLINES

5 JAPAN AIRLINES

6  CATHAY PACIFIC AIRWAYS
